The days are getting shorter, and we’re starting to see sunrises in the morning while pulling our waders on for the day, that means fall is rapidly approaching. It happens fast up here on the tundra.
As expected, the silver salmon action this past week has been steadily ramping up. We saw some giant pushes of new fish in the river on each tide, causing the fishing action to get hot and heavy. Rather than hookups being the norm now, double and triple hookups are what to expect! The lower holes on the river heat up first, but now the fish are spread throughout the river.

It was Bruce and Shawna’s first visit to Lava Creek Lodge, and caught “more fish than we could have ever imagined”, and are looking forward to next year already.
The flyout to nearby Mud Creek provided non stop action as Bruce they doubled up over and over again.
Silver season’s mantra of cast, strip, set, fish on is what this time of year is all about.
For those that wanted a day off from pulling on salmon, both the upriver fishing, and Lava Creek flyout for dolly varden and rainbow trout are still producing, and provided the arms a break from throwing the 8 weight rods all day.
